Area variation of Urmia Lake, the greatest habitat of Artemia, from 1989 to 2003

Summary:
The Urmia Lake is the largest habit of brine shrimp Artemia but during the recent years it struggle with drought. This study is a brief research of area variation in 1989, 1998, 2001 and 2003. Previously, Alesheikh et al. have been calculated the area of Urmia Lake in 1998 and 2001. So in this research, its area in 1989 and 2003 has been computed with regard to its satellite images, Adobe Photoshop and AutoCAD software (Fig. 1). The result shows that Urmia Lake misses its water source gradually.
